TINA’S STORY
“When we shared the video for the first time to 200+ people in a crowded room, you could hear a pin drop. The portrayal of Tina’s unique story paused the hustle and bustle, moved many to tears, and inspired the room to action. The story we aimed to tell was challenging – full of emotion and nuance – and we felt safely supported by them and their crew the entire time. The end product not only captivated attention and accurately portrayed the complexities of having cancer as a young person but also inspired audiences to take action and support the important work being undertaken by the Canadian Cancer Society. We are grateful for the care, attention to detail and compassion the entire Rich&Jay team demonstrated throughout the video production process.”
When the Canadian Cancer Society needed to tell a compelling story to illustrate to donors how unique the needs of young adults with cancer is, we took their story to a very raw and emotional place.
Imagine being in your early twenties with the whole world in front of you and the feeling of possibility everywhere. You’re ticking the boxes of what success and happiness look like for you. Then, your body starts telling you something different. Something unsettling. Two weeks later you receive a diagnosis of Hodgkin lymphoma stage 3. This is what happened to Tina and this is her story, told in her own words. Personally, this project was beautiful to work on. It was also a reminder of what matters most.
In this director’s cut, Amar Chebib beautifully captures the true essence of Tina’s story as she recounts her experiences.
Thank you Tina. Your honesty, vulnerability, and unflinching look in the mirror was deeply moving to witness. It’s with immense gratitude that we share your story so that others may learn, reflect, and take action towards a better support system for the unique needs of young adults facing their cancer journey.
