It always takes more than just food to help the families who need to access the services of the Greater Vancouver Food Bank and with a single apple, we told the story that the GVFB had yet been able to tell.

Did you know that 50% of the 5.5 million pounds of food distributed by the Greater Vancouver Food Bank to those in need is fresh? That’s a lot of apples! For this story, we followed an apple from the beginning of its journey on the tree all the way to the hands of a child. We wanted to illustrate the idea, “It Takes More Than Food” by revealing all the behind-the-scenes players and processes not usually highlighted but instrumental to GVFB’s mission.

This highly visual and unique journey is from the perspective of our hero, the apple. Our goal was to entertain the viewer but also educate them on how their money helps, which data suggests plays a key role in raising the necessary funds and retaining donors year over year.
